We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported one of our special events during Seafood Week and helped to make it so successful.

Customers, staff and suppliers all played a key role in creating a fantastic series of events and special thanks must go to general manager Tom Wilkinson who hosted all of the events at the Derby Arms, keeping guests entertained throughout.

Highlights of the week included executive chef Antony Shirley leading the winning Team Oyster in the Ready Steady Cook competition and Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Ella Shaw putting on a magnificent performance at the Coast to Coast event, with wines supplied by Tom Lorrimer from Lea and Sandeman proving very popular with guests. This event raised £450 for Alopecia UK, Ella’s chosen charity.

Unfortunately venison was the winner at the Meat v Fish event hosted with our friends from Roaming Roosters, but everyone enjoyed the competition and banter on the night!

We’ve had some brilliant feedback from guests at all of the events, including from Gordon Bolton, managing director at Bleep (UK) Plc, who said:

“Thank you for putting on a fantastic Ready Steady Cook event and for organising a great range of events throughout Seafood Week. We thoroughly enjoyed it and had a great night!”

Lee Duerden, managing director of XLCR Vehicle Management, added:

“Thank you for a brilliant night; it was great sampling some of the finest coastal food available at the striking Derby Arms. Tom Lorimer was fantastic at pairing the wines to each dish and the entertainment included the local singer Ella Shaw who was brilliant! It was a truly enjoyable evening and all for a great cause, Alopecia UK.”

We’d also like to congratulate Paul and Joanne Dodd who were the winners of dinner for two at their chosen site following our #seafoodweek social media competition and Sue Sykes who won dinner, bed and breakfast with us after filling out a comment card at one of the events.
