We’ve always known that the Assheton Arms is great, now it seems everyone else is realising…

The Assheton Arms, on Top Row, has been named as the Good Pub Guide’s national Dining Pub of the Year. Speaking of the award, Robert Broadbent, the general manager of the The Assheton Arms, said: “We’ve been named by the Good Pub Guide as Lancashire’s top dining pub year after year, but to be recognised as Britain’s best is something else.

“I think it’s the food and the setting, it’s the whole package really. I love the pub, and Downham, customers who come here are spellbound by the beauty.

“We have to do location justice and maintain our reputation with good old hospitality while always striving to improve.”

The pub is renowned locally for excellent food and has been recognised consistently for this with accolades including being in the UK’s Top 50 Gastro Pubs.
