The Forest in Fence is one!

 

After being brought back to life by the Seafood Pub Company, The Forest in Fence is celebrating a very successful first year in business.

Heavily inspired by Mediterranean cuisine, pizzas, seafood classics and ember grill claypot dishes have been very popular with customers over the past year, as well as a wide range of gins, special cocktails and live music events. The Seafood Pub Company’s refurbishment of the site also included the addition of eight bedrooms, a welcome addition for customers who want to enjoy a relaxing overnight or weekend stay.

Sean Kirkley, general manager, said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better first year in business. We’ve welcomed a wide range of customers through the door over the past 12 months, from those who want to enjoy our South facing beer garden with a few drinks and tapas sharing dishes to those who choose to stay with us for a bit longer, by booking one of our bedrooms.”

The Seafood Pub Company transformed the Forest into a relaxed and contemporary setting of bleached oaks, natural materials and muted tones. A mixture of dining spaces, an open pass into the kitchen and a bustling bar have created spaces for every occasion.

Some of the most popular dishes on the menu from the past year include paella Valencia: chicken, chorizo and king prawns with saffron rice, broad beans and grilled peppers, an ember grilled 10oz sirloin steak with rosemary salted chips, rocket, slow roast tomatoes and alioli and the ‘Our Lamb in Istanbul’ pizza which combines slow cooked lamb mince and pulled shoulder with mozzarella, spinach, sweet red onions, yoghurt dressing and pomegranate.

The venue’s Bottomless Brunch on a Sunday has also been a welcome addition to the menu, with diners able to enjoy a wide range of brunch dishes from a full Forest breakfast to Tiganites: Greek pancakes with Greek yoghurt, honey and summer berries, alongside unlimited refills of Prosecco between 11am and 1pm each week.

Sean added: “We marked our first birthday with a special celebratory event for regular customers and local businesses. We’ve gone from strength to strength over the past year and now we’re really looking forward to the start of another exciting year, with events for Seafood Week, Christmas and New Year already being planned!”
